Juvenile Justice Class Takes to the Field


On March 30, the Juvenile Justice class visited the Allen County Juvenile Court Treatment & Detention Center. The Detention Center has the capacity to hold 33 juveniles, 21 males and 12 females.

Students were given an in-depth tour of the facility, including holding cells, the detention wing, the treatment wing, the recreational facilities, and the educational facilities. After the tour, which was conducted by Detention Center Director Berlin Carroll, students engaged in an informative and enjoyable discussion with the entire staff.

Members of the juvenile justice class are Andrew Bauer, Marie Bigelow, Wade Boggs, Rachel Butvin, Garrett Gottlieb, Edward Harris, Stormy Humphrey, Jamal Jones, Trey Jones, Michael Krummrey, Elizabeth Okrutny, and Jason Scott. James Geistman teaches the class.
