Model United Nation Team to Dayton in Warmup for National Simulation

This weekend, January 31 and February 1, the Model United Nations team went to the annual Dayton Conference (DAYMUNC) and received three awards of which seniors Daniella Chambers, Franklin Howard, and James Lee were the recipients.

Daniella represented the United States of America on the Security Council and was awarded an honorable mention certificate.

Franklin represented the United States of America on ECOSOC and was awarded an honorable mention certificate.

James represented the United States of America on the Simulated Security Council where the members were given a fictitious crisis situation upon arriving at the conference and had to work as a body to solve it based on the real life policies of their states.

This year’s crisis involved an attack on a South Korean aircraft in their air space by North Korea. The delegates had to take action in response to this as well as respond to a military coup in North Korea, the death of Kim Jung Un, and intelligence briefs from their states throughout the conference.

James was awarded an honorable mention plaque for a second year in a row for his work on this committee.

Other members of the team that attended were: seniors Nahoko Shiojiri and Sung Eun Heo, juniors Hannah Allen and Katie Deeter, sophomores Regine Jean-Michel and Kristen McKell, and freshmen Taylor Philips, Jeremy Pultz, Arianna Ranieri, and Andrea Sheller.

Thanks to all for being great ambassadors for ONU!
